Celebrating 3 Years of VIDA San Antonio
Three years since the first residents moved into the neighborhood, VIDA San Antonio is alive with activity. Residents gathered this month at Ana Park to celebrate the community’s third anniversary.
In its first three years, VIDA has delivered 650 lots, and another 100 are on track to be ready this summer. Over 400 residences are occupied, and another 50 are under construction. Phase 5 of construction is set to begin soon, with development starting on another 500 lots this summer in what will be VIDA’s largest residential area.
The location and quality of the homes initially brought us to VIDA, but it’s the vibrant, growing community and lively atmosphere that make it truly feel like home.”

Housing Variety
From single-family homes to townhomes and apartments, VIDA offers a wide range of housing to meet the needs of its growing population. The community’s first apartment homes are complete, and more than 1,000 additional apartments are in the planning phase.
The San Antonio Housing Trust has announced “The Judy,” a senior living community within VIDA San Antonio, featuring 90 income-restricted units including 36 one-bedroom and 54 two-bedroom apartments. Designed for adults aged 55 and over, The Judy is the first phase of a planned 499-unit, multi-generational development.
“The quality of the homes and community-focused amenities initially drew us to VIDA. As lifelong Southsiders, staying connected to our roots was important to us, and VIDA made that possible.”

In May, VIDA and Sitterle Homes celebrated the debut of Sitterle’s first townhomes. This new offering combines quality craftsmanship with low-maintenance living, ideal for modern homeowners. Located in the heart of VIDA, the townhomes offer easy access to Texas A&M-San Antonio, the future University Health campus, and all community amenities, including the pool, clubhouse, and high-speed internet.
University Health Topping-Out Ceremony
On June 18, University Health celebrated the installation of the final steel beam with a topping out ceremony, a tradition that marks the completion of a building’s structural frame and a major milestone in the construction of the Palo Alto Hospital.
University Health’s 68-acre VIDA campus will include the VIDA Clinic and the full-service Palo Alto Hospital. The first facility to open will be the three-story, 60,000-square-foot VIDA Clinic, expected to start accepting patients in fall 2025. It will offer primary and specialty care, as well as mental and behavioral health services, and house the Institute for Public Health — helping address the shortage of accessible health care on San Antonio’s Southside.
Construction is also underway on the 167-bed Palo Alto Hospital, which is on track for completion in 2027. Together, these facilities are shaping VIDA into a major destination for health, healing, and innovation.
“As a parent, it brings peace of mind knowing a hospital and health campus will be just minutes away. You never know what life will bring.”
