Community Progress Update

It has been a busy few months at VIDA, San Antonio’s new home community adjacent to Texas A&M University – San Antonio. From planning to construction to new innovations taking shape, the future of VIDA is quickly becoming a reality.

Construction on the first single-family homes at VIDA is anticipated in January of 2022. Model homes and available homes are being constructed by three respected and quality award-winning builders – Perry Homes, Highland Homes and Lennar. More information on home plans and pricing will be shared early next year, but homes are anticipated to start in the high $200’s and be available by early summer 2022.  If you’ve driven past the community along South Zarzamora Road just below the I-410 South Loop, you’ll see that sidewalks are being formed, pavement is going down, and pad sites for the model homes are completed. The first community entrance off South Zarzamora will be taking shape in the coming weeks! To be notified when home information comes available, please complete the form on the Contact Us page.

VIDA Zócalo renderingPlanning for the Zócalo, a pedestrian plaza, is also underway. Developer SouthStar Communities is working with the talented teams at TBG Partners and Overland Partners to create a central hub of culture, activity and community in a plaza that will welcome large regional events and small gatherings in the heart of VIDA’s retail town center, directly across from the Texas A&M – San Antonio campus. The pedestrian plaza is planned to include an expansive stage, play areas and gathering spaces for concerts, festivals and every day hang-outs. Construction is planned to begin mid-2022.

VIDA home renderingVIDA will feature a diverse choice of housing with homes, townhomes, and apartments available to own or rent. The community will include over 1,200 apartments, the first of which are anticipated to be under construction in mid-2022.

VIDA will be sharing more information about its 10G high-speed fiber internet network in January, which will be zooming along to establish VIDA as San Antonio’s first gig-speed community.

A signature of the VIDA community will be its incorporation of local artists and creators as inspiration. VIDA will unveil its public art plan in early 2022, designed with the help of the City of San Antonio’s Arts & Culture Department. VIDA’s first Arts Council is forming now, and will work towards commissioning the first public art piece in early summer of 2022.

VIDA DJ at LOE2021

VIDA recently participated in the annual Lights of Esperanza holiday celebration, unveiling its temporary events space that will be used to host food trucks and music. Guests to the space for Lights of Esperanza enjoyed a 12’ high snow tubing hill, elf stilt walkers, giant games and delicious food from The Snack Bar Food Truck.

There are so many new developments to come at VIDA. We hope you have a Happy Holiday season and stay tuned for more exciting news and events as we head into 2022!
